The Kochýli, meaning sea shell in Greek is a series of Lino prints conveying the organic, intricate dealings of the contents of a shell pattern from within. Each composition displays an assemblage ofn lines, intertwining with one another in a gestural manner. I had looked over references of the contents of shells and engrained a sense of their nature prior to carving, though during the process I installed the automatism methodology or allowing my unconscious mind to be in control. I wanted to create an authentic illustration over the linoleum in order to truly encapsulate the natural curvature of the patterns engulfed by the shell.
I had also embarked upon creating a gradient with a crimson red and lemon yellow, I found the process to be quite rewarding given the seamless blend of the two colours; narrating a coherent rendition from one to the other. I had printed over regular white paper, I found the paper to be a great success in accentuating the pigments brought through the inks in the prints.
