A series of Lino prints which have been digitally manipulated through the use of mirroring, layering and dissimilar technology. My work questions our relationship with perspective and the varied lens' we can observe from. By indulging in editorial methods, there is a development of perplexity within each design. I had initiated a repetitive sequence of overlays within print 1 of 'Contortion.' After overlaying the image with itself over and over, I then distorted the image further by using the pull and compress tool, allowing part of the image to pultrude and sit forward. Additionally I used a negative display as my final step as to truly exacerbate the chaotic nature of the design. Print 2 embodies a simplistic approach in that I added a glitch over filter to the image. Distortion refers to a misrepresenting of something, an aberration, something no longer recognised. The glitch overlay pays reference to a sudden malfunction, or fault - representative to the nature of some visual ailments resulting in sudden loss of sight. Given the agile nature of visual impairment (especially aged macular degeneration) I wanted to convey a series that documented the unspoken realities of this ailment in a surrealist manner. I find the pieces to work cohesively and have an appropriately psychedelic narrative, and the piece in which I had animated to be an implement of literal movement aboard the design which I would love to project in a space.
